THAI PBS JOINING CHANGE ASIA, RESCUE THE EARTH CO-PRODUCTION

Between 29 August and 1 September 2012, Thai PBS production team joined the first co-production meeting of Change Asia, Rescue the Earth (CARE) project in Beijing.

Organized by Asian Broadcasting Union (ABU), CARE is a documentary co-production project which involves over fifth teen countries across Asia. The documentaries tackle various issues under the Millennium Development Goal (MDG), including poverty, education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, etc.   The project offers a great opportunity for producers to explore common issues of the region as well as develop their professional capacities.

CARE started back in 2010. With the success of previous seasons, CARE is now producing its third season under the theme of “Youth and Future”. For the first time, Thai PBS has the opportunity to be a part of this invaluable co-production. Other broadcasters involved in the third season are BBS (Bhutan), CCTV (China), RTHK (Hong Kong), Metro TV (Indonesia), IRIB (Iran), NHK (Japan), KBS (Korea), LNTV (Laos), RTM (Malaysia), MediaCorp (Singapore), NBT (Thailand), RTTL (Timor-Leste), TRT (Turkey), and VTV (Vietnam).

At the first producer meeting in Beijing hosted by CCTV, each producer made a presentation of their storyline. Ideas were lively debated. MDG experts from UNESCAP and UNI Global Union also provided information and insights to help producers strengthen their stories.

“I am honored to be a part of this project.  Working with producers from neighboring countries has opened many new perspectives for me. Interestingly, there are so many issues common to our countries and it is intriguing to know more about each specific context and different solutions. I also treasure the friendship that we gain working together. I feel truly thankful.”, said Mr.Pharkphoom Vongsakul, Thai PBS producer for CARE3.

Although CARE3 has just started, it already proves itself as a highly stimulating project for the production teams involved and its output documentaries are believed to be a quality program for the audience.
